Job Duties

The Office of Land Use is seeking an individual to assist in the research, development, and coordination of agreements with broadband and energy providers. The position will research the location of limited access right-of-way, various aspects of broadband projects, and available documentation of existing agreements, using computer applications and online data. The incumbent will work with VDOT Central Office, District, and local field office staff to identify the Department’s needs for inclusion in agreements and assist in the preparation of related draft documents.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to conduct research using online sources and electronic files and to read highway plans; as well as be able to build and maintain networks and relationships with staff in other disciplines, broadband providers, consultants, contractors, citizens and elected officials.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Skill in the use of computers and PC operations.
  • Skill in problem-solving and decision making.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices and tools identified as essential to the assigned unit and
    program area.
  • Ability to research, compile and organize statistical data into reports
  • Ability to communicate and build constructive, effective relationships inside and outside the
    organization.
  • Ability to design, analyze and implement policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal and State regulations, policies, and practices

Additional Considerations

  • Certification as a project management professional by PMI, or similar certification
  • Any combination of project management, construction estimation, highway design, construction engineering, mathematics and/or computer technologies experience
