Highway Noise Specialist Sr
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is in need of a Highway Noise Specialist Sr who has expertise in mitigating noise pollution from vehicles on roadways, typically through noise barrier design, noise modeling, and environmental impact studies. This position will perform value based acoustical engineering sound barrier designs, plan and perform noise impact studies, coordinate and resolve complex acoustical engineering issues, manage consultant work orders, and ensure the transportation construction program complies with federal regulations and state noise abatement guidance.

Prepare analyses, reports, and recommendations based on engineering determinations. Provide engineering support and consultation related to engineering program area. VDOT’s Traffic Operations Division has an exciting opportunity for a driven and dedicated leader to serve as the Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV) Program Manager. The CAV Program Manager will lead, direct and manage the strategic approach to developing an integrated, safe, and efficient CAV system; will serve as VDOT’s subject matter expert and champion for connected and automated vehicle technologies and provide technical guidance and direction for the planning, design and implementation of CAV technologies and data, enabling VDOT to be early adapters of the most beneficial aspects of CAV technology.
