Program Specialist Senior Supervisor Traffic (Richmond District)

VDOT Richmond District Traffic Operations is looking for an experienced professional to lead, direct, and coordinate the needs in identifying, prioritizing, planning, programming and project development oversight for district operations related highway maintenance and installation projects.

Minimum Qualifications
• Skill in evaluating, investigating, gathering, analyzing data for business support and quality decisions by management.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with customers.
• Considerable knowledge of federal, state, local transportation rules, regulations, and policies
• skill in organization and time management
• skill in use of computers, software applications related to design, studies, modeling, and work zone safety.
• Ability to supervise staff, programs, and budgets.
• Ability to interpret, apply policies and procedures related to traffic engineering.
• Experience in managing a large workload in an engineering environment, working with local governments, elected officials, citizens and engineering consultants.
• Considerable knowledge of traffic engineering, design principles, traffic standards, specifications, policies, and procedures.

Additional Considerations

• A combination of training, experience, or education in Civil Engineering or related field desired.

Special Instructions
Position is designated as essential to emergency operations and will be required to work outside normal work hours to ensure the safety of the traveling public.
