Traffic Engineer (Entry Level)

Responsibilities/Duties
· Plan and lead or perform routine field surveys, photographing, recording data, and making diagrams of infrastructure and roadways
· Collect data on road geometry, land development, and traffic
· Perform calculations using engineering skills for the development of design and studies
· Use specialized computer software to analyze and model data and create alternatives
· Research design options and document findings
· Assist with organizing and maintaining project files
· Follow agency and T3 design standards
· Assist in writing reports for engineering studies by using T3 standards
· Create figures and tables for inclusion in study reports
· Use engineering drawing software for plan development and design
· Use engineering analysis software to perform analysis tasks
· Support the preparation of design computations and quantity estimates
· Occasional field work and exposure to weather
· Perform other related work as assigned or apparent
Supervisory Responsibilities
· May supervise data collection efforts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Strong program-solving skills and critical thinking
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Strong time management and interpersonal skills
· Basic (at a minimum) knowledge of software such as Microstation, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, and SIDRA.
· Physically able to walk up to 2 miles.
Education/Training and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering bachelor’s or related field
· 0-4 years of experience in civil/transportation engineering
· EIT required, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
Additional Requirements
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
