The Engineer Land Use will administer the district’s land development activities with stakeholders to include local government, engineering community, developers and other VDOT staff.

Hiring Range: $77,276 – $125,574

Minimum Qualifications
• Experience applying land use permits policies, construction practices, materials requirements, and street acceptance procedures.
• Experience applying subdivision street requirements, entrance standards and road design standards.
• Experience applying roadway geometric design and other engineering principles.
• Skill in the use of computers and software applications.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse audiences.
• Ability to interact successfully with internal and external customers.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction plans, local ordinances, and zoning requirements.
• Valid driver’s license.

Additional Considerations
• PE license or EIT certification desired.
• Experience in land development plan review.
• Experience in the application of engineering principles to highway construction projects.
• A combination of training, experience, or education in Civil Engineering or a related field desired.

Special Instructions

Position is designated as essential to emergency operations and will be required to work outside normal work hours to ensure the safety of the traveling public.
